Fishing

We offer you the perfect setting to make your fishing dream come true. Dorotea offers a number of interesting and, for the most part, unchartered waterways. Find hidden gems and enjoy fishing in peace and quiet without the need to fight for the best spot.

Waterways rich with fish

Our “home lake” is renowned for having a rich and diverse fish stock. The most typical catch is pike, perch, bream, ide and roach.

The lake has always been sparingly fished, which is clearly reflected in the fish stock. The lake is moderately shallow with the maximum depth of about four metres. Thanks to varying batches of vegetation and more barren areas, fishing in the lake is easy. For this reason, the lake is one of the hidden gems in Southern Lapland.

The only proper place to access the lake by boat is from our private jetty.

Boats

We have two fishing boats at your disposal: an Alloycraft Deka 445 with a 15 hp four-stroke engine and an Oswig ESOX with a 20 hp engine. Both boats are equipped with a Minn Kota Terrova 55 I-Pilot electric engine and Humminbird Helix 7 sonar with Side Imaging fish finder.

Those preferring peace and quiet can paddle our fishing kayaks to the nearby forest lakes- an adventure of its own right!

Rent boats depending on the size of your group.

A maximum of three fishers in one boat.

The boats are located at a jetty about 300 m from Camp Veksjö.

Summer

Would you like to catch the larger-than-life pike that your neighbour is always bragging about? Or just to fish in peace and quiet without having to compete for the best spots?

Now you have a good chance to make your dream come true. Dorotea offers a number of interesting and, for the most part, unchartered waterways. We, however, know from years of experience where to find those larger-than-life pike and perch.

Ice fishing

Glittering snow, lakes full of fish and a skilled guide are solid starting points for a good day of ice fishing. The most typical catch is perch, although Arctic char or rainbow trout are not uncommon either.

The best time for ice fishing is late winter or early spring, from February to April, and our experienced guides maximise your chances for a successful outcome. Combine it with a snowmobile safari for the perfect mix of excitement and chilling.
